January 2018 Horror – Haunted Houses, Demons, and a Homicidal Nic Cage

I love January. It’s the beginning of a new year, the sweet spot between a worn out, dusty old year and 12 months of as of yet untarnished potential.

I also love January for the horror movie trailers. That’s right—the dumping ground for movies Hollywood needed to unload has some of the best bad horror movie trailers of the whole year. And 2018 doesn’t disappoint.

Last January, we had trailers like Underworld: Blood Wars, The Bye Bye Man, and The Summoning. I laughed and cringed and wholly enjoyed myself. This January, my favorite bad horror movie trailers go to Day of the Dead: Bloodline, Primal Rage, and Death House, the latter of which I need to watch immediately.

New Horror Movie List – April 2016

There are some months where the horror movie fountain overwhelms with a wide selection of scary films across a plethora of subgenres. Other months, not so much.

April has turned out to belong to the latter category, with barely any wide-release horror movies to be found (though the one wide-release horror film looks awesome). But don’t despair! April has brought us a small but eclectic mix of horror movies covering a range of subjects. There’s a serial murder thriller aiming for social commentary, a vicious survival gore-fest, a moody and stylish exploration of insanity, and a darkly surreal collection of fairy tales.

So while you might be counting the days until June when The Conjuring 2 comes out or July for the Purge: Election Year, maybe expand your horror horizons and try a movie you wouldn’t normally watch. While most of these films have secured only a limited theatrical release, they will be available on VOD the same day.

Enjoy!

September Horror Movie List

September gets kind of a rough deal. It’s the first full month back from summer and the only real barrier between summer fun and Halloween fun. Of course, if you’re anything like me, you start planning your Halloween costume at least sixty days out. Around that two-month mark, you might start planning your annual Boo-bash or purchasing your tickets for a haunted house tour. September often seems like thirty days of not-being-October, like time to clear your schedule for costume parties and scary movie marathons and baking ghostly treats.

But let’s give September a little bit of love. Some awesome horror movies will be released later this month. Maybe it’s time we think of September as the warm-up month. These films will get you in the mood for all of October’s creepy glory.

So, without further ado, September 2015 has everything from unnerving, suspicious twins to murderous trick-o’-treaters to Nicolas Cage’s best “scared/confused” face. Check out the September horror below!
